La Maison 1393

La Maison 1393 is a stately building dating back to the 14th century.A stone’s throw from the Sainte-Léocadie church, it is said to have been linked to it in the past. Its location on the town square marks its place in time, as the heart of the old city has evolved and grown up around it.

The distinguishing feature of the ground floor is a centuries-old arch ceiling in which the eponymous number 1393 is engraved. The walls and ceilings, which are several meters thick, protect the interior from the summer heat. Wine used to be produced on the ground floor. This hall now serves as a common area. A huge oak table invites guests in, giving them a place to gather, eat, and celebrate together. The modern kitchen in the back part of the ground floor provides everything you need to store and prepare the regional delicacies.

The first floor has two apartments. The charm of the past reveals itself in the form of old chimneys, which are complemented and contrasted with the modern flair of contemporary furniture. Both apartments feature French balconies.

Another two modern apartments are on the top floor, both of which offer breath-taking panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. The historical roof and the old clay brick architecture are an integral part of the house’s charm.

“Vic la Gardiole and La Maison 1393 – another world in the middle of white horses, pink flamingos, turquoise sea and lots of sunshine – for me a beautiful place for rest, pleasure and inspiration.”

Tanja Gluding, Berlin

“We found in La Maison 1393 just what we were looking for: A French attitude to life right in the middle of a wonderful village, sports activities and culture, everything in the carefully restored Maison 1393.”

Christof Glatzel, Essen

“Vic and the house have become a wonderful place for us!”

Jörn-Christoph Weigel

“This is such an amazing region! We enjoyed our time there with the best weather and good food. This is a magical place…”

Kasia Sokolowski

“We had a lovely week in your little house, a little treasure in a nice little village. We went to the Crêperie just around the corner again yesterday, we really enjoyed it. The port Sète is also a pretty city with its very own charm”.

Berthold Becker

“La Maison 1393 is pure France: bakery, wine merchants, market, everything next to the house. It is always enjoyably cool under the arch of the ground floor in this house from the 14th century, although outside the sun (almost always) strongly shines. On the roof terrace you can enjoy the Mediterranean climate undisturbed by any onlookers.”

Stefan Wiesmüller

“The landscape of Vic la Gardiole is simply amazing. In only 10 minutes – with the house’s bicycles – you can reach a secluded beach with flamingos everywhere behind the dunes. Just after landing at the Montpellier Airport flamingos welcomed us: they stood next to the flight path, very surprising! For those who prefer it a little bit cooler in the summer, there is the backcountry and the crystal-clear river Hérault where you can swim. There are also lots of wine merchants where you can taste and buy wine”

Beatrix Renner

“The tourist attractions in the neighbourhood can’t be visited in three weeks: Montpellier, Carcassonne, Toulouse, Narbonne, Nimes, Avignon, Marseille, Aix-en-Provence, Cannes, Nice… There are lots of museums, concert and opera houses where something takes place every season. This is a great contrast to the landscaped natural experiences that you can get there.”
