La Maison 1393 is a stately building dating back to the 14th century.A stone’s throw from the Sainte-Léocadie church, it is said to have been linked to it in the past. Its location on the town square marks its place in time, as the heart of the old city has evolved and grown up around it.
The distinguishing feature of the ground floor is a centuries-old arch ceiling in which the eponymous number 1393 is engraved. The walls and ceilings, which are several meters thick, protect the interior from the summer heat. Wine used to be produced on the ground floor. This hall now serves as a common area. A huge oak table invites guests in, giving them a place to gather, eat, and celebrate together. The modern kitchen in the back part of the ground floor provides everything you need to store and prepare the regional delicacies.
The first floor has two apartments. The charm of the past reveals itself in the form of old chimneys, which are complemented and contrasted with the modern flair of contemporary furniture. Both apartments feature French balconies.
Another two modern apartments are on the top floor, both of which offer breath-taking panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. The historical roof and the old clay brick architecture are an integral part of the house’s charm.
